Here's a quick guide on best practices when running a Participation Game

How many Challenges should I add?

The number of recommended Challenges varies depending on your game objectives, as well as the number of players and duration of the event. But generally, you want to make sure you have enough content so that anyone can get a chance at earning points, but not too many so that they're discouraged. Here's our general recommendation:

1-2 days

For events that last between one and two days, you'll want to have no more than 10 challenges. This will keep your audience engaged, and also give you some room to add hidden challenges for extra points.

3+ days

Be sure to have at least 3-4 new challenges per day. Mix in Photo Challenges, Polls, and a Trivia Game to gather user input and keep your audience engaged.

Are you collecting Data?

What type of information are you capturing from players? Here are 2 ways in which you can capture additional information from your participants:

Registration Survey

Set up a Survey that shows up when your participants register for the game:

  1. Navigate to Participation Game > Configuration

  2. Enable Registration Survey

  3. Click the Edit button to set the fields you want to show

Survey Challenges

Set up a Challenge that is only completed after your participants enter information into a Survey:

  1. Click on your event's name, and click Utilities

  2. Click Surveys and then Add

  3. Add your survey fields, then navigate to Participation Game > Challenges

  4. Click Add to show the Wizard. Select either On Their Device or Scanning a QR Code.

  5. Select Survey and then select the one you created from the dropdown menu

Giving access to your players

To ensure that you have

Through CVENT or an event app

If you're using an Events App:

  • Use push notifications if available

  • Take advantage of a dynamic link to seamlessly register players

  • Feature your game on the main page

  • Remember to give verbal reminders to your participants

By registering on their own

The most effective way of getting more participants to engage with your content is by having QR Code challenges in high-traffic locations.

  • Head over to Participation Game > Configuration and make sure In-App Registration is enabled

  • Navigate to Participation Game > Challenges and click the Get QR Code button next to your challenges to get their QR Codes. You can download and print them on signage, flyers, or have them pasted up on media content displayed on large monitors or projectors.
