How does the Prize & Raffle Wheel select winners?

Learn how the prize wheel and raffle wheel work to select winners, manage inventory and restrict the number of prize entries in both stand alone games and APG games

Updated this week

Quick Answer

Both the Prize Wheel and Raffle Wheel select winners using a fully random selection process. Every entry has an equal probability of being selected. The only weighting comes from:

  • The number of times a person is entered into a drawing

  • The remaining inventory quantity of a prize

  • Whether Single Entry or Win Once settings are enabled

As winners are selected, entries or inventory are reduced automatically.

How the Raffle Wheel Selects Winners

The Raffle Wheel randomly selects a name from the Name List.

Each entry equals one chance to win.

Important:

  • If a person is entered twice, they have two chances.

  • If Single Entry Mode is enabled, duplicate entries are not allowed.

  • If Win Once Mode is enabled, a winner is removed from the Name List after being selected — regardless of how many entries they had.

How to Access the Name List

Standalone Raffle Wheel:

Raffle Wheel → Manage → Name List

APG Raffle Reward:

Rewards → Click Reward Name → Players

How the Prize Wheel Selects Winners

The Prize Wheel randomly lands on a prize segment.

The odds are based on the inventory quantity of each prize.

Example:

  • Prize A inventory = 5

  • Prize B inventory = 1

Prize A is more likely to be selected because more inventory is available.

Each time a prize is won:

  • The inventory decreases by one.

  • The remaining quantity updates automatically.

  • There is no risk of overspinning inventory.

When inventory reaches zero, that prize can no longer be won.

What Does “Entry” Mean?

An entry is one chance to win.

Entries can be created in different ways:

Standalone Raffle

  • Upload a list of names

  • Players complete a lead form and are added automatically

If someone fills out the lead form twice:

  • They appear twice

  • Unless Single Entry Mode is enabled

APG Raffle Reward

Players are added when they:

  • Reach a point threshold

  • Complete a required number of challenges

  • Meet reward criteria

If the reward allows multiple entries:

  • A player can appear multiple times in the drawing.

Why Are No Names Showing Up in My Drawing?

If no names appear when you try to spin the wheel, check the following:

Standalone Raffle Wheel

  • No names were uploaded.

  • No one completed the lead form.

  • You are viewing the wrong wheel.

  • All names were already selected and removed.

APG Raffle Reward

  • No players qualified for the reward.

  • The reward criteria were not met.

  • Players were already selected and removed.

How Do I Put Someone Back on the Wheel After Testing?

If you accidentally selected a winner during testing:

  1. Go to Raffle Wheel → Manage → Name List

(or Rewards → Reward Name → Players in APG)

  2. Click Selected Winners

  3. Locate the attendee.

  4. Click the Red X next to their name.

The attendee is immediately added back to the active Name List.

There are no restrictions.

Can We Limit Winners to Only the Top 10 Players?

Not automatically.

The wheel does not select winners based on leaderboard rank.

You cannot:

  • Automatically draw only from the Top 10

  • Restrict the wheel by leaderboard position

However, you can:

  • Create reward criteria that require a high point threshold

  • Require completion of specific challenges

Advanced Workaround (Manual Method)

You could:

  1. Create a Staff-Scored Challenge called “Top 10 Players”

  2. Manually award completion to the Top 10

  3. Link that challenge to a drawing reward

In this case, only those 10 players would be added to the drawing.

This is a manual process, but it works.

How Do Single Entry and Win Once Modes Affect Selection?

Single Entry Mode (Raffle Wheel)

Prevents a person from entering multiple times based on email address.

Win Once Mode

Once a person wins, they are removed from the drawing — even if they had multiple entries.

Single Spin Mode (Prize Wheel)

Limits each player to one spin based on a unique email address.

What Happens After a Winner Is Selected?

  • The selected name is removed from the Name List (if Win Once is enabled).

  • Inventory decreases (Prize Wheel).

  • Remaining entries adjust automatically.

  • Odds update dynamically based on remaining entries or inventory.

Common Questions

Is the selection truly random?

Yes. Each entry has equal probability. Weighting only comes from entry quantity or remaining inventory.

Can I increase someone’s chances?

Yes — by adding additional entries (unless Single Entry Mode is on).

Can inventory be increased during play?

Yes. Updating inventory increases available prizes immediately.

Can names be added in real time?

Yes. Names can be uploaded or added during live events.
